Larry Dean Craig

Larry Dean Craig, Sr., 70, of Vergennes, passed away at 5:47 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Larry had worked as a gas service man for forty-three years with Ameren CIPS.  He was a member of the Jubilee Tabernacle Apostolic Church in DeSoto.  He had served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in the Marshal Islands and Southern California in the Sea Bees Amphibious Construction Battalion One.  He was a member of the Carbondale BPOE Elks 1243, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aeries 779, Loyal Order of Moose 3000 General Assembly Illinois, and a Lifetime member of IBEW Local 702 in West Frankfort.

He was born November 3, 1937 at Du Quoin, the son of Dewey and Lillian F. (Scarber) Craig.

He married Mary E. Lively on June 3, 1970, at Du Quoin and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Vergennes, sons - Rocky Green of Sullivan, Ronnie Green of Du Quoin, Donnie Green of Goreville, Tony Green of Du Quoin, Joe Green of Elkville, Joseph Lively of Du Quoin, Dean Craig of Du Quoin, Lance Craig of Du Quoin, daughter - Kim Craig of Georgia, sister - Rosie Frances Craig Jackson of Texas, twenty-seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Jubilee Tabernacle Apostolic Church in DeSoto with Rev. Danny Norman officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Jubilee Tabernacle Apostolic Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
